Read all material carefully and call the FLD office if you would like to receive a licensing packet in the mail.

  1. The process for a Ministerial License begins when candidates submit one copy of your paper to the Forest Lakes District office, following the guidelines given.  (Item 6 on the check list) The typed thesis should be 15-20 pages, double-spaced, written in paragraph form, copied front and back.
  1. Proceed through the checklist on the application form.  Begin with items 1-5, 9 and 10 (note items 3 and 5 can be included in one letter).  Complete the forms immediately and send the originals to the Forest Lakes District Office. (Item 10 - If you are a TEDS graduate who did not complete the EFC History and Polity course, or if you are not a Trinity Evangelical Divinity School graduate, you must read the required books within 12 months of receiving the Three-Year License.)

  1. Once we have received your paper, we will call you to schedule an appointment with the District Board of Ministerial Standing (DBOMS).  Each candidate must meet with the DBOMS for a personal one-hour interview concerning conversion, call to ministry and doctrine.  It is the Board ’s desire that the candidate’s spouse attend the interview. The re are three DBOMS teams in the FLD and you may choose whichever location and date works best for you.  (See DBOMS List included)

  1. Two weeks before the date of your appointment with the DBOMS you must MAIL copies of your licensing paper to each member of your council.  You will find the names and addresses of council members in your packet.

  1. Upon completion of your licensing council, within two weeks, you will need to send a final edit, if needed, of your paper plus all other required materials to the Forest Lakes District Office.  Once we have received all your required paperwork, it will be sent to the Board of Ministerial Standing of the Evangelical Free Church of America.  It may take 30 days to get a response from them.
