2006 FLD Summer Mission Trips
What Are The Benefits Of Short-Term Mission Trips?
FLD Missions Trip Recommendations
The Mission's team exists to promote missions in our District and recommend mission's trips that our Youth Groups or individual students could consider.
We want to be a resource to help mobilize and equip the youth in churches for missions. A different breed of missionaries is winning the world for Christ in this millennium. You have a generation of short-term missionaries at your fingertips. More opportunities exist to reach the needy of the world than ever before, and unprecedented numbers of people are answering God's call to the mission field. Will you bring your missionaries to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth?

UMF/EventSource Ministry serves to promote biblically sound missionary activities to fulfill the great commission by preaching the gospel, making disciples recruiting and sending forth workers: serving churches, communities, and missionaries. Pastor Kenny May leads local churches into inner cities of Phoenix and San Diego, and the remote towns of the Navajo Indian Missions and Mexico. Through UMF and EventSource Ministry the basic needs of these communities are met through service projects, sports camps, after school programs, scholarships, VBS, and more.

Comments:
I just returned from Sumpango, Guatemala where we worked with Los Olivos, Guatamala Free Church and partner of FLD District. I would encourage every youth group to find a long term partner and plant roots deeply. After having done 'hit and miss' missions for years, I now see the benefit of going for the purpose of long term relationships.

Went with Kenny May to Mexico 2 summers ago. Great resource, good price (gives Free Churches a special rate), former EFCA Youth Pastor so knows ministry. We built houses and met with their youth groups and church. Medical missions, sports camps, etc. are also available. Missions trips are awesome and life changing.

More than a short-term trip, AIM is a leader in Mission training and the experiences in the field; participants receive exposure to evangelism, church planting/growth, and community development. AIM seeks to have every participant achieve five objectives (Listen in Prayer, Share Your Faith, Build a Meaningful Relationship, Meet Felt Needs, Debrief and Respond). Teams experience the power of God and come away excited about Christ eager to serve him more at home. AIM is a Christian, interdenominational mission organization offering custom and pre-planned trips for junior high, high school, college age, and adults.

Comments:
I went with a group of Youth Pastors to Matamoros in January of this year, as a "test run" for our trip this summer. AIM does a great job, and I am very excited about our trip this summer. They take a lot of work and time, but the benefits to students and adults can last a lifetime!

Comments:
The past 6 years I have only gone with AIM. They do such a great job and make things very easy. After four trips with them in 6 years I probably will not use anyone else.

I just checked out Adventures in Missions and I thought they were a great organization and the trip was good (trip for pastors).

Comments:
I would highly recommend Adventures in Missions. They are great at organizing trip details, providing training materials, have clear objectives, have passionate staff, and help your team follow God more closely through each step. It would be a blessing to have another FLD group of about 15-20 to go along with our group of 15-20.

Comments:
I have taken two trips to Tijuana and Matamoros, Mexico. They have both been very successful. AIM has it together, gives a good, broad range of missions experiences, is priced equitably and the trips are about the right length.

Comments:
I have been a participant and helped to staff trips for AIM since 2001. AIM has great training material and provides a wide variety of opportunities for any level of group. Their set-up and preparation allow you freedom to minister and stretch your group. Their focus is helping participants to develop ability to hear and discern God's voice.

Don't talk Jesus, live it. Better witness: a tract or a home? Strengthen the local church in Mexico by building hope within a family's life. More than 18,000 participants in 2001 built homes, churches, schools, and medical clinics with little or no building experience in Baja California, Ciudad Juarez, and Puerto Peiiasco, Mexico. A house means one more child will live and a family will stay together. W.W.J.D? He was a carpenter.

I've gone to Tijuana, Mexico through AMOR ministries and Young Life to build homes - I highly recommend AMOR. They have a great website that explains their ministry. You send them the money and they select a site, have the supplies delivered and provide blueprints, etc.

In the past we went to Mexico with ARM Ministries from Dallas Texas. They are great people to work with! We worked and stayed in Hermosillo for one week. I would recommend ARM because they keep a good balance of ministry, to service projects, to fun time. It exposes students to the all- around mission experience!

Through the process of trial and error I am still trying to find a good program and organization. We have done BUMP before and that was pretty good. Good enough that we can fall back on it in the future.

Global Missions Fellowship (GMF) strives to put a church within walking distance of every person in the world. Today, we serve churches in over 40 countries around the globe. To date, nearly 500,000 men and women have received Christ and over 3,500 new churches have been planted. One of GMF's single greatest strengths is our ability to provide laypeople with the opportunity to have fruitful ministry without spending years in seminary -- or in some cases -- even leaving their present occupations. As the global community gets smaller, a new breed of international missions has emerged: the Short-term Mission Trip. GMF's missionaries spend a majority of their time in the United States preparing for highly defined short-term mission trips. Domestically, they work with churches; individuals and families, helping them discover God's vision for the world and getting them ready for involvement in fulfilling His plan. Internationally, they work with church leaders to prepare them to receive a team. The main offices of Global Missions Fellowship are in Dallas, TX, and San Diego, CA. We also have small, satellite offices in Seattle and Atlanta.

Once you've worked your way around the site, feel free to give me a call; I'd love to come meet with you are show you how we can help mobilize the youth in our district for missions.

Personal Experience:

Comments:
I will say that my preference is still Youth With a Mission (YWAM) for a couple of reasons. 1. Economics. They provide a great service to the church for not a lot of money. We live in a wealthy area of the state, but people are still conscious of spending a ton of cash. 2. Training. YWAM does their training on site for their 10-day summer trips. I thought this was an invaluable time to bond with students and meet new friends in preparation for the trip. 3. Worship. The base we were at in Ensenada placed a high priority on worship and Preparing kids hearts to serve. I thought this was a good way to help them get over the culture shock and get ready to serve.

I think there are many good options for mission's trips. I was especially impressed with the wide range of trips put on by YOUTHWORKS. Their prices were very reasonable, too.
