Hosting a Spanish-speaking Student or Resident for Church Planting

The Forest Lakes District has a phenomenal partnership with Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas that we’d love to share with you. Rio Grande brings in Spanish-speaking students from countries all around the world to train and equip them for ministry. Once these students complete their program, they are allowed to apply for an internship. Many students have already blessed many FLD churches with their ministry. If that isn't enough, we are also working on a partnership with Word of Life, Argentina, and CeCaBim that we are eager to deepen and put before you. If your church would be interested in hosting a Spanish-speaking student or a resident for church planting in the near future, this session will be packed full of information for you. Bring your questions!

Opening an Immigrant Hope Location

Immigrant Hope (IH) is a network of church-based immigration legal aid clinics. They help local churches to set up and run these clinics as part of their outreach to immigrants in their community. IH believes that by providing excellent legal services, churches can show their immigrant neighbors the love of God, build relationships based on trust, and open doors to share the Gospel and make disciples.

The FLD is looking to launch an IH office within our District as well as satellite locations around the state of Wisconsin! If you are at all interested in being a part of this exciting new ministry, please join us for an informational session with the National Director, Ben Johnson, and others that are interested in making this movement happen. We truly are #BetterTogether!

Hunger for God; The Spiritual Discipline of Fasting (Ashley Haferman)

Fasting is one of the most often feared and misunderstood spiritual disciplines within the church. However, “of all the purposes for fasting found in Scripture, fasting in order to strengthen prayer receives the most emphasis by far. In fact, in one way or another, all the other biblical purposes of fasting relate to prayer. Fasting is one of the best friends we can introduce to our prayer lives.” -Donald Whitney

What would your life look like if you practiced Biblical fasting coupled with prayer? What about your church? Join church leadership from across the FLD for an overview of the powerful spiritual discipline of fasting followed by an open discussion of how Biblical fasting may be practiced both individually and collectively to see the hand of God move in your life and in your communities!

A New Evangelicalism? Deconstruction, Progressivism & Neo-Fundamentalism (Collin Hansen)

In this session, Collin will address the divisions that now exist in the modern evangelical church, helping us to identify paths forward that include courageous leadership that calls us back to Gospel unity.

This session will be delivered via zoom and include live Q&A with Collin following the presentation.

The Heart of a Leader (Scott Roen)

Based on Robert Saucy's book "Minding the Heart", this workshop explores how biblical transformation takes place in the heart of the believer. This workshop will unpack biblical ideas for how to break the chains of indwelling sin for yourself and those you lead.

Overview of FCMM & Retirement: A Pastoral Care issue often overlooked (Jeff Englin)

Gospel Ministry Through Holistic Care for Immigrants (Ben Johnson)

Caring for the vulnerable physically, emotionally and socially is part of the church’s mission and the gateway to effective gospel ministry. Helping immigrants navigate our broken immigration system creates remarkable opportunities to show and share the love of God.

How the Spirit Works (Paul Miller)

In this “A Praying Church” workshop with Paul Miller, you'll discover that praying together is the spark that ignites the world's most powerful spiritual force--the everyday saints around you. Explore how the Holy Spirit uniquely powers the church while also learning a few simple how to's for praying together effectively.

Creating Relationship Within The Diverse Body Of Christ (Naomi Norris)

Fellowship, Evangelism, and Discipleship are the essential elements of the Christian life. Join Naomi as she addresses the need for these to be applied to those living with special needs. Together, you will discuss how to approach those living with special needs and bring them into all these elements of the church.

Turning Members Into Missional Leaders (David Parks)

The Church often lacks missional leaders but not members. What would it look like to identify the unprepared and create a pathway to prepare them for a mission? In this workshop we will work on a plan to increase your church's ministry and missional bandwidth by developing the people right in front of you.

Premarital Counseling - Speaking Truth to Save Marriages Before They Begin (Dave Bondeson)

How do you do premarital counseling? Is it effective? What's the goal, and how do you know if you're being successful? What should you prioritize, and how can you best equip marriages for lifelong, God-glorifying success? This workshop aims to answer these questions, and provides free resources for premarital counseling.

A team I can work with.  Building unity and a healthy culture within the elders, volunteers and staff (Jack Guerra)

In order to have a unified team, a healthy culture must be in place. In this workshop, you will explore how to build and keep a healthy culture along with balancing the team dynamics between Elders, Staff & the congregation

A highlight of many at the Forest Lakes conferences is the Affinity Network time.  This time is designed to connect ministry leaders with other in their ministry space.  It's possible that you may be feeling the loneliness that ministry can bring. This time is designed for you to find others to walk alongside you!

Best practices are shared, brainstorming takes place, and most importantly, connections are made.  Our prayer is that the connections made during this time will continue beyond the conference.

Who is this conference for?

The FLD Ministry Leaders Fall Conference is for everyone who is on staff or is a key leader at your church! Each of you play an extremely important role in the mission God has in our district.

If you are married, please know your spouse is encouraged and invited to attend! We know that your spouse is your biggest encourager and supporter. They are equally a part of the FLD Family, and we would love to have them there with you!

What are ministry partners and are ministry partners able to host a table at the conference?

We do have ministry partner booths at the conference. However, there is limited availability. To inquire, please apply to be a partner with us here!

Once the application has been received, our FLD Executive team will either approve or deny your application based on the criteria we have set. We are seeking ministries affiliated with the EFCA to be at our conferences.

Please note: All people at your table will need to register and pay for the conference.

Are there financial scholarships to attend the conference available?

We do not want financial issues to keep you from attending the conference. If you are in need of assistance, it would be our joy to talk with you and support you in whatever way we can. Please contact us at finances@forestlakes-efca.org; subject: financial scholarship.

I have more or other questions about the conference. Who can I contact?

For all conference needs or questions, please contact us at sberg@forestlakes-efca.org

We are happy to help in any way that we can!
