Organization “Wellness”:
Strategies and Solutions

Bill Stevenson: Facilitator and Coach

Church leaders often find themselves questioning how well things are really working within their organization. A troubling sense of unease can come from their own observations, from their staff, from the people they work with or serve, or some combination of those sources. They find themselves puzzling over recurring issues that they have overlooked or set aside, needing to first handle the “crisis of the week” or the list of the most urgent problems confronting them. They have difficulty finding the time to diagnose what’s going on, to figure out what to do first, and what to do that will resolve whatever the issues may be.

Open your organization to a comprehensive Organization “Wellness Check.” It Includes:

  • Reviewing existing governance policies and structure and assessing their adequacy relative to your operational needs.

  • Reviewing operating relationships and accountabilities: lay leadership to pastoral leadership, pastoral leadership to other church staff, pastoral staff to lay ministry leaders.

  • Reviewing processes that facilitate communications, especially those that provide feedback between and among everyone engaged in helping fulfill the mission of your congregation.

Specific outcomes you can expect—a sampling:

  • Staff development and feedback processes that build trust and engagement in performance improvement efforts.

  • Complete and clearly stated HR policies that support organizational values and goals.

  • Increased focus on how to address difficult organizational issues and maintain a healthy work environment.

Bill Stevenson is an excellent resource for you…another set of eyes and ears that can help you sort through the issues. He comes with a deep background in organizational studies and leadership development. He is a man of faith with church leadership experience and many years of professional experience in human resources, both for non-profit and private sector companies. He will provide a comprehensive analysis and recommendations at a very reasonable cost.

You can connect with Bill directly at wsteve@chorus.net or by phone/text 608-877-6021.
